Apex:

  1. In geometry, the apex is the highest point of a triangle, cone, or pyramid.
  2. In racing terminology, particularly in motorsports such as Formula 1 or NASCAR, the apex refers to the point on a racing line where the car’s trajectory is closest to the inner edge of a corner. This is the point where the car’s speed is ideally reduced to the minimum necessary, allowing for the fastest possible exit speed from the turn.
