A “back-seat driver” refers to a person who is a passenger in a vehicle but offers unsolicited and often annoying advice or instructions to the driver. This term is commonly used to describe someone who criticizes or attempts to control the driver’s actions from the back seat, even though they are not responsible for operating the vehicle. The behavior of a back-seat driver can be perceived as intrusive or irritating, as they may comment on driving techniques, speed, navigation, or other aspects of vehicle operation without being asked by the driver.
