Batch picking is a method used in warehouses and distribution centers to fulfill multiple customer orders simultaneously. Here’s how it typically works:

  1. Selection: Instead of picking items one order at a time, the picker selects multiple units of each product required for several orders in one trip through the warehouse.
  2. Consolidation: After picking the items, they are grouped together in a staging area or on a cart according to each individual order.
  3. Packing: Once all items for an order are gathered, they are packed together before shipping or further processing.

Batch picking is efficient for operations handling a large number of orders with similar items. It reduces travel time within the warehouse, increases productivity, and improves order processing speed.
