Battery traction refers to an electric traction system where vehicles derive their power from onboard batteries, also known as accumulators. These batteries supply the necessary electrical energy to drive the vehicle’s electric motors, enabling propulsion without the need for an external power source like overhead wires or third rails. Battery traction systems are commonly used in electric vehicles (EVs), including cars, buses, and some trains, offering flexibility and environmental benefits by eliminating direct emissions from the vehicle.
