A beaded edge tire is an older type of high-pressure tire that features projecting beads. These beads fit into corresponding grooves on the wheel rim, securing the tire in place. This design was commonly used in the early days of automobile and bicycle tires before the development of the more modern clincher tire and tubeless tire designs. Beaded edge tires were known for their ability to maintain high air pressure, but they were eventually phased out in favor of designs that provided easier installation and better sealing capabilities.
